Valerie Brooks Wallin is the School’s Academic Advisor. She has been with the Advisement Office since 1996, serving as the Advisor since 2005. In addition to advising approximately 425 undergraduates, Valerie serves on the Undergraduate Studies Committee and the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee. She is a member of the Administrative/Professional (A/P) Staff Council and is an Academic Affairs representative on the A/P Staff Council’s Judicial Review Board. Valerie is an active member of the National Academic Advising Association, and she is a participant in the University’s Safe Zone Program, which identifies gay friendly faculty and staff to provide support and resources for gay, lesbian, and bisexual students. Valerie is a Saluki through and through, having earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Southern. She is an avid Saluki basketball fan, a fledgling knitter, and lives in Cobden with her husband, Jeff, and their feline friends, Francis, Roswell, and Landau, and their pooches, Hokum and Pocky.
