After graduating from Carleton College with a degree in art history, Eric Peterson worked as the liaison between the medical imaging department of a hospital and its affiliated external clinics. He briefly studied law at the University of Minnesota, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he managed a bookstore for a number of years.
At SIUC, he oversees visual resources for the School of Art and Design, including shooting, editing, and cataloguing both slides and digital images; purchasing, maintaining, and checking out photographic, video, and projection equipment; and maintaining equipment used for image-based instruction in SoAD classrooms. Most recently, he digitized, catalogued, and uploaded to the searchable online MDID database SIUC's collection of 100,000 slides dealing with art, architecture, and design from 1960 to the present.
