Artist Statement
I view my work as a conglomerate of the world I see around myself everyday. Not only is it informed by the world in which I observe but also by the way I perceive what surrounds me. When I look at an object, whether is be natural or man made, several questions will most likely cross my mind. For instance: how was this made? How does it function? Where did it come from?
All of the answers, or my versions of the answers, are deposited into the pool from which I draw my ideas or concepts for my sculptures. Whether it be a three dimensional form or a simple elegant motion in my work, I can often trace elements of a piece to casual observations I have made in the past.

Of all the elements in the environment around me, currently I am most drawn to technology and man-made structure. The saturation of technology in contemporary society is immense, anywhere from huge buildings we inhabit to tiny cell phones we carry with us, which are essentially viewed as extensions of our bodies.
My work can be seen as a reflection of our need for technology, the comfort it provides, and its diffusion into all realms of our lives. Ranging from pure mechanical fascination, to trying to breathe life into a machine, to demonstrating the absurdity of applications of technology, my sculptures are all rooted back to the way I view the world that I partake of everyday.
